In response to San Francisco’s dire need for housing and in conjunction with the redevelopment of Hayes Valley, the City sponsored a design competition for a multi-unit housing development along the new section of Octavia Boulevard. The unusually narrow lot (15’ x 200’) presented a space planning challenge within the units and forced a building that is all facade. The proposal includes 12 units of housing and 3 retail spaces at the street level, including a secure bike parking service.
